Welcome to the History Department at CSUSB
The Department of History is part of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and offers three undergraduate majors, a history minor, and participates in the MA Social Sciences program. The department is committed to excellent instruction and high levels of research. The department offers courses in all areas of the world, including Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East and the United States. It is one of the few in the country to offer an undergraduate degree in Public and Oral History.
Our faculty are actively engaged in research and are internationally recognized for their seminal publications. History faculty have published numerous books and in a variety of journals and are strong participants in professional activities nationally and abroad.
CSUSB history students participate in various local and international internships and are active members of the community. In line with its mandate to encourage excellent scholarship from its students, the department, along with the Phi Alpha Theta Honors Society, publishes an award-winning annual undergraduate journal of history, History in the Making, of its best undergraduate research papers and book reviews.
